Chinese Communist Party's Central Committee set for major shake-up at plenum meeting

Press/Media: Expert Comment

Description

A key Chinese Communist Party (CCP) meeting next week to decide a strategic plan is expected to include a major shake-up of President Xi Jinping's inner circle.

Analysts expect a record political purge at the four-day plenum meeting of the CCP's 205-member Central Committee that starts in Beijing on Monday.

The meeting is to flesh out and agree on China's next five-year development plan — a road map that outlines the country's economic and social priorities until 2030.
