Youth, Social Media, and the Law: Protection or Interference?

  • Kathrine Galloway (Speaker)

Activity: Talk or presentationTalk or Presentation Outside of an Organised EventOral Presentation

Description

An interactive presentation, inviting student discussion and contribution on three key themes: the concept of ageism and stereotyping; the way that the law uses age as a category to inform law making and social regulation; and a case study in social media regulation through various means including criminal law, contract, and norms of authority. In closing, students are invited to contribute to a draft social media policy that reflects their own standing as autonomous – and internally ethically self-directed – individuals before the law.
