On the 10th of March 2023, over seventy sports diplomacy enthusiasts consisting of Australian and British diplomats, government officials, academics, sports people, students, and others gathered at the John McIntyre Conference Centre, University of Edinburgh for the 2023 Australia-UK (AUK) Sports Diplomacy Dialogue (The Return Leg).Over the course of three panel sessions, and a drinks and dinner reception, the delegates discussed how Australia and the United Kingdom (UK) could harness the power of sport for social, diplomatic, and cultural outcomes.
Delivered in partnership with The British Council, Bond University, Sports Diplomacy Alliance, the Australian Government (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade), and the University of Edinburgh, the event built on the success of the inaugural 2022 Brisbane Australia-UK Sports Diplomacy Dialogue by reinforcing and expanding a community of practice for key stakeholders with an active interest in Australia-UK (AUK) sports diplomacy.
