Description
This invited talk explored the role of international standards in addressing the physical, cognitive, and psychological risks associated with virtual and augmented reality systems. Dr James Birt presented insights from his work with ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 24/WG 11, highlighting the practical application of ISO/IEC 5927 in supporting developers, regulators, and policymakers. The talk also introduced the in-development ISO/IEC 23595, focusing on software usability and interface design. Discussion centred on how standards complement frameworks like UL 8400, ISO 31000, and cross-regulatory collaboration in immersive safety governance.Additional information
