Description
In our presentation to ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 24, we scrutinised privacy issues in Modeling and Simulation Environments, focusing on the proposed standard PWI 23554 - Privacy Policy Requirements in Modelling and Simulation Environments. Delving into regulatory aspects, our evidence-based analysis reveals challenges in Contracts, Terms of Service, Consent, Licensing, and Data Use Policy. Examining privacy issues, our case study on Meta Horizons demonstrates extensive data collection, encompassing essential, personal, and sensitive information. Essential data includes names and emails, while personal data spans user-consented details like interests and images. Sensitive data, from political opinions to biometrics, raises profound concerns. This evidence underscores the need for robust standards to address data privacy challenges in virtual environments, emphasising the critical importance of safeguarding user information and autonomy.Period | 20 Feb 2024 |
