Navigating Spaces Symposium

Activity: Participating in or organising an eventOrganising a conference, workshop, ...

Description

Navigation is a fundamental ability that allows humans and animals to find their way from one place to another in familiar and unfamiliar environments. In humans, navigation skills involve the ability to read maps, follow directions, and use landmarks and body cues to keep track of changes in position and orientation during movement. These skills have been essential to human survival for thousands of years, from ancient times when explorers navigated the seas to our modern times when people rely on GPS technology to guide their way. Recent research also suggests an important link between declining navigation ability and ageing and the role navigation plays in cognitive development, memory, and problem-solving.

The Navigating Spaces Symposium at Bond University will bring together seven experts in spatial cognition and navigation and provide a platform for them to present their findings, share their insights, and engage in meaningful dialogue about the state of the art of research in this area. Beyond advancing our understanding of spatial cognition and navigation, the Navigating Spaces Symposium will generate new ideas for research that will continue to push the boundaries of knowledge in this area. This symposium will be the first of its kind at Bond University and constitutes a significant opportunity for anyone interested to learn from some of the leading researchers in the field.

This free event is open to Bond faculty, academics/students from other universities, and the public. Additional information on the symposium can be found via this link.
