Injury and injury minimisation strategies in defence

Activity: Consultancy

Description

Injuries are a major problem for military forces across the world and injury reduction programs should be informed by research into the most prevalent injury types. The lower limb is typically the most injured bodily site within the Australian Army, typically with cumulative, overuse injuries. Strategies to reduce these injuries may include dedicated strength and conditioning programs on an individual or ability-based group basis, monitoring training load across the longer term, and the complete rehabilitation of injuries when they do occur.
