Description
Pregnant bodies celebrated – once in postpartum societal ‘thin ideal’ and expectations to shrink to pre-pregnancy body size and shape. Succesful interventions to support postpartum body image dissatisfaction and disordered eating behaviours are underexplored ‘Body Project’ – a dissonance-based, body acceptance intervention that has helped young people challenge unrealistic appearance ideals, reduce body dissatisfaction, and reduce disordered eating behaviours. We aim to adapt the ‘Body Project’ to postpartum populations. Mixed-methods research design Focus groups with postpartum mothers to adapt and evaluate Body Project for the postpartum. Intervention – four, one-hour workshops delivered in person or online Pre and post intervention surveys 6 months follow-up We are currently looking for a potential PhD student who would be interested in completing this project at Bond University on the Gold Coast.
