Developed and facilitated a workshop for the conference. The workshop was titled Surf Medicine and involved both theoritical and practical sessions.

Step out of the lecture theatre and into the water for a practical, full-day workshop exploring emergency care in coastal and aquatic environments. Delivered by a multidisciplinary team from Gold Coast Health, Bond University, Surfing Medicine International (SMI), and OceanSense, the day includes interactive lectures, pool-based free diving/ breath-hold activities, and surf rescue simulations at Nobby’s Beach.

Drowning resuscitation
Haemorrhage control in surfing
Case studies from the World Surf League
Marine-related trauma
History of freediving
Mammalian Dive Reflex
Breathing activity
Freediving pool activity
Surf rescue activity

Participants will also receive access to SMI’s E-Basic Surf Life Support (E-BSLS) online learning package to complete prior to the event.
