I have been a member of the Australasian Tax Teachers Association (ATTA) since 2002, and was nominated as the 2007 ATTA representative for Southern Queensland at the AGM in January 2007. ATTA is a non-profit organisation established in 1987 with the goal of improving the standard of tax teaching in educational institutions across Australasia. It disseminates tax information on a number of tax issues via a monthly tax newsletter to tax academics, writers and administrators. I have featured in this newsletter on a number of occasions, in relation to tax research I am conducting on an ongoing basis (e.g. books/articles I have had published) and to conference presentations. Through ATTA I am in email contact with tax academics around the country. This in turn has the beneficial outcome of contributing to the currency of my research in tax, and also informing my teaching in taxation law subjects.
