Affordable Housing Think Tank

The one-day workshop was held at Bond’s Spring Hill Campus on Friday, 13th October 2023, organised by FDS’s Associate Professor Lynne Armitage and Senior Teaching Fellow Dr Johari Amar.

Over 25 industry professionals from across Australia participated in this think tank whose purpose was to generate a white paper for presentation to government as a means of providing working solutions to unjam the complexity of the problem where physical, community and intractable policy/finance/investment coalesce. With elected representatives of the state government, local government officers, representatives of private sector and community and social welfare organisations, as well as a number of academics with housing as their research specialisms, there was broad representatives at the local, state and national levels.

The key speaker Mr Mike Myers, the CEO of the National Affordable Housing Company, provided a clear chronology of facts, areas of policy, the levers to be operationalised and a range of realistic existing policy models to be actioned.
